Suspect sought in botched robbery

Surveillance photo

A would-be robber got exactly what he demanded from a Tacony convenience store clerk on Feb. 22, but unfortunately for him, he didn’t get a dime.

Surveillance cameras filmed the entire episode. The absent-minded crook entered the Wawa at 6400 Torresdale Ave. at about 8:50 p.m. and handed a note to a clerk. The scrawled message stated, “No dye packs, no GPS,” according to police. Apparently, the robber forgot about money.

An instant after he passed the note, a woman patron approached the counter and appeared to make a purchase from the clerk. All the while, the robber stood there fidgeting with his hands in his jacket pockets and a hood covering most of his face. Eventually, he walked out of the store empty-handed. He was last seen traveling northbound on Torresdale Avenue.

The crook was described as white and 6 feet tall with a blue zip-up sweat jacket and blue jeans. Visit the Philadelphia Police channel on YouTube.com to view the surveillance video. Call 215–686-TIPS or text to PPDTIP to report information. ••
